Tour Guide – Eco-tourism (Part-time)

Bako Rainforest Lodge runs nature walks and wildlife tours for guests visiting Bako National Park, with guides doubling as the lodge's main point of local knowledge for visitors. Our guides are the heart of the guest experience, turning a walk in the forest into a memorable encounter with Sarawak's wildlife. It is a rewarding role for someone with genuine local knowledge and a love of nature, who enjoys sharing that passion with visitors, keeps groups safe on the trails, and wants flexible, outdoors work in one of Sarawak's most beautiful settings.

We need part-time Tour Guides to lead nature walks and wildlife tours for our guests, with weekends and school holidays especially busy and guides expected to handle groups of varying fitness levels. You'll share your knowledge of local flora, fauna, and trails while keeping guests safe throughout. It suits a knowledgeable, patient, and personable guide who is comfortable leading groups on moderate jungle trails, adapts easily to mixed fitness levels, and genuinely enjoys introducing visitors to the wildlife and rainforest around Bako National Park.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engaging nature walks and wildlife tours for lodge guests
• Share knowledge of local flora, fauna, and trail conditions
• Ensure guest safety throughout each tour
• Report trail hazards or notable wildlife sightings to lodge management
• Adjust tour pacing for groups with mixed fitness levels
• Answer guest questions about the park and local environment

Requirements

• Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and the Bako National Park trails
• A registered tour guide licence, or willingness to obtain one
• Comfortable leading groups on moderate jungle trails
• Patient with slower walkers and first-time hikers
• Personable, safety-conscious, and enthusiastic about nature
