Technical Support Intern

Baram Data Systems is a small, hands-on systems integration shop in Miri that takes on interns to help build its future support bench, rather than as a token gesture. Interns here sit alongside experienced technicians, handle real tickets under supervision, and are genuinely taught the craft of good technical support. It is a practical, supportive environment for a student who wants to leave with real skills, real confidence, and a real reference rather than a placement spent making coffee.

This is a hands-on internship supporting our helpdesk team, learning to triage and resolve real client tickets under close supervision. It is a good fit for a student who wants practical IT support experience over classroom theory, and who is genuinely willing to learn, ask questions, and be corrected. You'll gradually take on more responsibility as you prove yourself, and you'll finish the placement with a solid grounding in how real-world support actually works.

Key responsibilities

• Shadow senior support staff on live client tickets and calls
• Handle simple, well-documented ticket types independently over time
• Help maintain the internal knowledge base of common fixes
• Assist with basic hardware setup for client onboarding
• Ask questions freely, as this is genuinely treated as a learning role
• Sit in on client calls to learn how issues are communicated and resolved
• Keep clear notes on the tickets you work through

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in IT or a related field
• Genuinely willing to learn and to ask questions
• Available for a minimum three-month placement
• Comfortable being corrected and adjusting quickly
• Reliable, punctual, and eager to be useful
