Quantity Surveyor

Samarahan Civil Works specialises in roadworks, drainage, and earthworks for government projects across the Kota Samarahan district, with a small, close-knit QS team handling several concurrent contracts. Because the team is compact, our quantity surveyors get broad exposure across measurement, valuation, and final accounts rather than being boxed into one narrow task. It is a strong role for a QS who wants real ownership of contracts, direct dealings with consultant QS teams, and the variety that comes with government civil infrastructure work.

We're hiring a Quantity Surveyor to handle measurement, valuation, and variation claims across two to three concurrent government contracts, working closely with the site and consultant teams. You'll own the commercial side of your contracts from progress valuations through to final accounts, keeping costs visible and claims properly substantiated. It suits a capable QS who is comfortable negotiating variations, tracking costs diligently, and standing behind their measurements when dealing with consultants and subcontractors on live civil projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare BQ measurements and monthly progress valuations
• Process variation orders and subcontractor claims accurately
• Liaise with the client's consultant QS on certification
• Track project cost against budget on a monthly basis
• Prepare final account documentation at project close-out
• Review subcontractor invoices against agreed rates
• Flag cost overruns to the project manager as they emerge

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• At least 2 years of QS experience, civil or infrastructure projects preferred
• Proficient in CATO or similar measurement software
• Comfortable negotiating variation claims with subcontractors
• Strong numeracy and commercial attention to detail
