QA/QC Inspector – Welding (Contract)

SIMILAJAU PETROCHEMICAL CONTRACTORS delivers turnaround and plant modification services to petrochemical clients across the Similajau industrial park, with inspection standards built around client and international welding codes. Quality is non-negotiable in this work, because a poor weld on a pressure system is a genuine safety risk. It is a role for a rigorous, code-literate inspector who is comfortable holding the line on quality even under schedule pressure, and who takes pride in thorough documentation and defensible technical judgement.

This is a nine-month contract for a QA/QC Inspector to oversee welding quality on a plant expansion project, including weld procedure qualification review and daily inspection reporting throughout the build. You'll work closely with the client's QA representative on inspection hold points and NDT activities, maintaining full traceability at every stage. It suits an experienced inspector who understands that firm, well-documented decisions on non-conformances protect both people and plant, and who will stand behind those decisions when it matters.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect welds against approved WPS and client specifications
• Review and maintain weld procedure qualification records
• Prepare clear, accurate daily QA/QC inspection reports
• Flag non-conformances and track corrective action through to closure
• Witness NDT activities and review the resulting reports for compliance
• Coordinate with the client's QA representative on inspection hold points
• Maintain full traceability records for welding consumables used on site

Requirements

• CSWIP or AWS welding inspector certification
• At least 5 years of QA/QC inspection experience in oil and gas construction
• Strong documentation and reporting discipline
• Comfortable holding firm on non-conformances under schedule pressure
• Sound knowledge of relevant welding and NDT codes
