SIBU COMMUNITY HOSPITAL is a 220-bed private hospital serving central Sarawak, with specialist departments in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and emergency care, accredited under the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health. We're recruiting a Medical Officer for our Emergency Department, working alongside specialists across internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics in a busy hospital serving central Sarawak. You'll see a genuine variety of case types each shift, from minor presentations through to acute emergencies requiring rapid stabilisation. It is a role for a capable, calm doctor who thrives on variety and decisive clinical work, with strong specialist backup and a supportive team around them at every stage of the patient journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide initial assessment and stabilisation of emergency patients
  • Coordinate admissions with the relevant specialist departments
  • Participate in a rotating shift roster including nights and weekends
  • Maintain accurate, thorough clinical documentation per hospital protocol
  • Perform emergency procedures within your scope of practice
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families during high-stress situations
  • Escalate complex cases to the on-call specialist promptly
  • Contribute to a safe, well-coordinated emergency department

Requirements

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent, fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council
  • Completed housemanship with a minimum 2 years post-registration experience
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Willing to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
  • Comfortable making rapid, sound clinical decisions under pressure
