Marine Engineer

SIMILAJAU MARINE & OFFSHORE ENGINEERING supports vessel maintenance and repair for clients' supply and crew boats, with a satellite presence in Miri covering the northern vessel fleet. Keeping working vessels safe, seaworthy, and available is demanding, hands-on engineering where sound judgement genuinely matters. It is a strong role for an experienced marine engineer who enjoys the practical challenge of maintenance and repair, is comfortable making sign-off decisions on completed work, and wants real ownership of vessel upkeep for a respected marine engineering contractor operating across the northern fleet.

We're hiring a Marine Engineer to oversee vessel maintenance and repair projects for our clients' supply and crew boats operating out of Miri, coordinating closely with vessel owners on scheduling. You'll manage repair scopes, inspect completed work, and plan dry-dock activities around vessel availability. It suits a practical, experienced marine engineer who can make sound sign-off calls, keep accurate class records, and advise owners proactively on upcoming maintenance needs before small issues become costly failures out on the water.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee vessel maintenance and repair scopes end to end
• Inspect completed repairs thoroughly before vessel sign-off
• Coordinate dry-dock scheduling with vessel owners
• Maintain maintenance records per class society requirements
• Advise vessel owners on upcoming maintenance needs before failures occur
• Coordinate parts, contractors, and labour for repair windows
• Ensure repairs meet safety and class standards

Requirements

• Marine Engineering qualification, Class 3 or above preferred
• Experience with vessel maintenance and dry-dock projects
• Willing to work flexible hours around vessel schedules
