Job Description

Trusan Valley International School serves expatriate and local families in the Lawas-Trusan area, with a growing library collection that has become a genuine hub for student reading habits. We see the library as central to building a culture of reading, and we give our librarian real say in how the collection and its programmes develop. It is a lovely role for an organised, reading-loving librarian who wants to shape a growing collection, run engaging reading programmes, and be part of a warm, close-knit school community in a unique corner of Sarawak.

We need a Librarian to manage our growing collection, run reading programmes, and support teachers with research resources for projects, with real say in how the collection develops. You'll handle cataloguing and circulation, encourage student engagement, and organise the space to draw students in. It suits an organised, personable librarian with a genuine love of reading, who enjoys recommending books across a wide age and reading-level range, and who wants to help build a thriving reading culture within a small, welcoming international school.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage library cataloguing and circulation efficiently
  • Run reading programmes to encourage student engagement
  • Support teachers with research resources for class projects
  • Maintain the library budget and new acquisitions list
  • Organise the library space to encourage regular student visits
  • Recommend books across a wide age and reading-level range
  • Promote a positive, active reading culture across the school

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Library Science or a related field
  • Organised, with a genuine interest in encouraging reading among students
  • Basic library management software experience is an advantage
  • Comfortable recommending books across a wide age range
