Kitchen Steward

Bako Rainforest Lodge runs a small kitchen team serving lodge guests near Bako National Park, with stewards playing a key role in keeping meal service running smoothly. In a small lodge kitchen, a reliable steward is genuinely essential, keeping hygiene tight and dishes flowing so the chefs can focus on the food. It is a good entry-level role for a hardworking, dependable person who doesn't mind fast-paced kitchen work, is comfortable during busy meal periods, and wants a foothold in hospitality in a beautiful rainforest setting with full training provided.

We need a Kitchen Steward to maintain kitchen cleanliness, manage dishwashing, and support our small kitchen team during meal service, especially during busy lodge check-in periods. You'll keep hygiene standards high, turn dishes around quickly during service, and help with basic prep and stock handling. It suits a physically fit, reliable person who is comfortable with fast-paced kitchen work, willing to live on-site or commute to the lodge, and dependable during peak occupancy, with no prior experience needed as full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout service
• Manage dishwashing and utensil turnaround during service
• Support basic food prep tasks as directed by the chef
• Assist with stock unloading and correct storage
• Keep pace with dish turnover during back-to-back meal seatings
• Keep the kitchen and wash areas safe and tidy
