Junior Software Developer (Internship)

Kenyalang Digital builds custom software and cloud infrastructure for banks, government agencies, and SMEs across East Malaysia. We are a small, senior-heavy engineering team that takes internships genuinely seriously rather than treating them as unpaid busywork. Interns here are paired with experienced engineers, given real work, and treated as part of the team, which is exactly why several of our past interns have gone on to join us as full-time engineers once they graduated and were ready.

This is a three-month internship for a final-year Computer Science student who wants real production experience rather than throwaway exercises. You'll be paired with a senior engineer and work on actual features that ship to clients, not practice projects that get deleted the moment the internship ends. It is a structured, supportive placement designed to teach you how professional software is genuinely built, reviewed, tested, and shipped, and to give you a real head start on your career.

Key responsibilities

• Fix bugs and build small, well-scoped features under close supervision
• Write clear unit tests for the code you ship
• Join daily standups and fortnightly sprint planning sessions
• Shadow code reviews to learn the team's engineering standards and conventions
• Present a short demo of your work at the end of the internship
• Document any tools or scripts you build for the benefit of future interns
• Pair with your assigned mentor at least twice a week

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
• Basic working knowledge of JavaScript and Git
• Available for a minimum three-month placement
• Genuine curiosity about how real production systems are built and run
• Willing to ask questions and act on feedback quickly
