Insurance Claims Executive

Baram Insurance Brokers serves individual and commercial clients across northern Sarawak, with claims support forming a core part of its brokerage service. When something goes wrong for a client, the claims team is where the real value of a broker is proven — we advocate for our clients through the whole process so they receive the settlement they are genuinely entitled to, without the runaround. It is demanding work, but it is also deeply appreciated by the clients who rely on us at difficult moments.

We need a Claims Executive to process and follow up on motor and general insurance claims for our client base. The role is part administration, part negotiation, and part reassurance — clients turn to us at stressful moments, and clear, calm communication matters just as much as accurate paperwork. You'll build practical claims expertise across motor, property, and commercial lines while keeping clients properly informed and supported at every single step of the process.

Key responsibilities

• Process motor and general insurance claims submissions accurately and promptly
• Gather and verify supporting documentation from clients, workshops, and third parties
• Follow up persistently with insurers and loss adjusters on the status of each claim
• Keep clients clearly and regularly updated throughout the claims process
• Review settlement offers carefully and escalate disputed claims appropriately
• Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organised claims documentation and records
• Identify recurring claim issues and feed the insight back to the broking team
• Support clients with practical guidance on what to do at the point of loss

Requirements

• Diploma in Insurance, Finance, or a related field
• At least 1 year of general insurance claims handling experience is preferred
• Patient, organised, and comfortable following up firmly with insurers
• Clear written and spoken communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Empathetic manner for dealing with clients during stressful claim events
