Halal Compliance Officer

BORNEO SPICE & FOOD MANUFACTURING operates a Halal-certified facility in Kuching supplying supermarket chains across Malaysia. Our Halal certification is absolutely central to our market and our reputation, and protecting it requires constant vigilance across sourcing, production, and documentation. The Halal Compliance Officer is the dedicated guardian of that standard, with the authority, the independence, and the full management support needed to enforce it properly across every stage of the operation, from raw materials to finished goods.

We need a Halal Compliance Officer to maintain JAKIM certification standards across our production line, from ingredient sourcing checks through to internal audits. The role suits a meticulous, principled professional who understands Halal requirements in depth and can confidently hold the organisation to them. You'll own the audit trail, train production staff, and serve as the trusted internal authority on Halal compliance across the entire facility, working closely with production, procurement, and management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular internal Halal compliance audits across the production line
• Maintain complete, accurate documentation for JAKIM certification and renewal
• Verify supplier ingredient certifications thoroughly before materials are used
• Train production staff on Halal handling, segregation, and hygiene procedures
• Investigate, document, and report any compliance deviations found
• Serve as the main liaison point for JAKIM audits and external inspections
• Keep fully current with changes to Halal standards and regulations
• Advise procurement and production on maintaining Halal integrity

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Islamic Studies, or a related field
• Familiar with JAKIM Halal certification requirements and relevant MS standards
• Meticulous with documentation, records, and audit trails
• Firm, principled, and comfortable enforcing standards across the factory floor
• Good communication skills for training and liaison
