Finance Intern

KENYALANG CAPITAL ADVISORY is an accounting, tax, and corporate advisory firm serving SMEs across Sarawak. We take interns seriously — you'll be given real client work under proper supervision, not filing and photocopying — because we genuinely see internships as a pipeline into our graduate intake. Several of our past interns have returned to us as full-time junior accountants after graduating, and we structure the placement so you leave with skills, confidence, and a real understanding of the profession.

This is a three-month internship for accounting or finance students to gain hands-on exposure to bookkeeping, tax filing, and audit support work across a range of real SME clients. You'll rotate across a few different areas of the practice so you finish with a well-rounded picture of how an accounting firm actually operates, along with the practical software skills that classroom study rarely provides. Interns who perform strongly may be offered a graduate role when they complete their studies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with basic bookkeeping entries and bank reconciliations under close supervision
• Support tax filing preparation and data entry for review by senior staff
• Help compile audit support schedules and organise engagement working papers
• Learn and apply the firm's accounting software and standard client processes
• Assist with scanning, indexing, and maintaining organised digital client files
• Observe client meetings where appropriate and take clear, structured notes
• Support the team with ad hoc administrative and data-checking tasks

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• A basic understanding of bookkeeping and double-entry principles
• Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and keen to learn accounting software quickly
• Reliable, curious, and genuinely eager to learn from experienced staff
• Available for a minimum three-month full-time placement
