Electrical Technician

Batang Ai Hydro Engineering provides operations and maintenance support to hydroelectric infrastructure in the Batang Ai region, with electrical maintenance handled by a small resident crew. Working on generation and switchyard equipment at a remote hydro site offers real technical variety and responsibility for a hands-on technician. It is a solid role for a disciplined, safety-first electrical technician who is comfortable with a remote posting, takes lockout and tagout procedures seriously without shortcuts, and wants steady, hands-on maintenance work alongside an experienced plant engineering team.

We need an Electrical Technician to support routine maintenance and fault-finding on generation and switchyard equipment at our Batang Ai site, working closely with the plant engineering team. You'll carry out maintenance, assist with fault-finding, and follow strict lockout and tagout procedures throughout. It suits a careful, hands-on electrical technician who is comfortable being based at a remote site, disciplined about safety, and keen to build deep experience maintaining real generation and switchyard equipment within a small, capable resident crew.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine electrical maintenance on plant equipment
• Assist with fault-finding on generation and switchyard systems
• Follow lockout and tagout procedures strictly during maintenance
• Maintain accurate maintenance and test records
• Support planned outage work alongside the engineering team
• Report equipment issues and wear to the plant engineers
• Uphold safety standards on all electrical work

Requirements

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or trade equivalent
• At least 2 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
