Electrical Engineer – Building Services

Kuching Structural Consultants provides structural and building services design for commercial projects across Kuching, with electrical design handled by a small, capable in-house team. Working across disciplines under one roof means our electrical engineers coordinate closely with structural colleagues and see their designs through to a built reality. We need an Electrical Engineer to design building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm, for our ongoing commercial projects, and to coordinate with M&E contractors on site through to completion. You'll produce designs and specifications, review shop drawings, and troubleshoot clashes as they arise. It suits a practical building services engineer who is familiar with local code, comfortable coordinating with other consultants and contractors, and keen to see their designs installed correctly and functioning well on completed buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems
• Coordinate with M&E contractors during construction
• Review shop drawings for building services compliance
• Prepare technical specifications for tender documentation
• Attend site coordination meetings with other disciplines
• Troubleshoot and resolve design clashes flagged during construction
• Ensure designs comply with local electrical code requirements

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 2 years of building services or M&E design experience
• Familiar with local electrical code requirements
• Comfortable resolving design clashes with other consultants
• Good coordination and communication skills
