Credit Analyst
PadiFin Microfinance Bhd · Banking & Financial Services
Job Description
PadiFin Microfinance provides small business loans and savings products to rural entrepreneurs across northern Sarawak, operating branches in Miri, Marudi, and Limbang. Our borrowers are the sundry shop owners, smallholders, and small contractors who keep rural economies moving but are too often underserved by the larger banks. We combine sensible credit discipline with a genuine, ground-level understanding of how rural businesses actually operate, and we take real pride in lending responsibly to people the mainstream system overlooks.
We're hiring a Credit Analyst to assess loan applications from small business borrowers across our Miri branch network. The role deliberately combines desk-based financial assessment with regular site visits to applicant businesses, so you'll see firsthand exactly how the ventures you're financing actually work day to day. You'll play a direct, visible part in helping rural entrepreneurs access responsible credit while protecting the quality and health of the fund's loan book.
Key responsibilities
- Review loan applications thoroughly against our credit assessment criteria and lending policy
- Conduct site visits to verify applicant business operations, stock levels, and premises
- Assess borrower repayment capacity from cash flow, receipts, and simple financial records
- Prepare clear, well-reasoned credit assessment reports for the loan approval committee
- Monitor disbursed loans closely for early warning signs of repayment difficulty
- Recommend sensible restructuring options for borrowers facing genuine, documented hardship
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready borrower records and credit files
- Build trusted relationships with borrowers while keeping firm, objective credit judgement
What we offer
- Travel allowance for site visits
- EPF, SOCSO, and medical coverage
- Community-focused work with real local impact
- Structured microfinance training
Requirements
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- At least 1 year of credit analysis, banking, or microfinance experience is preferred
- Own transport for regular site visits to businesses across the Miri region
- Sound commercial judgement and genuine comfort engaging directly with small business owners
- Good spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English, with local dialects a distinct advantage
