Community Health Nurse

Mukah Rural Clinic Network runs two rural outreach clinics serving fishing and sago-farming communities around Mukah, with nurses regularly travelling beyond the clinic walls to reach patients who would otherwise go without care. This is meaningful, community-embedded work where trust and cultural understanding matter as much as clinical skill. We're hiring a Community Health Nurse to run outreach clinics for fishing and sago-farming communities around Mukah, including regular travel to longhouse settlements by road and boat. You'll deliver screening, referrals, and health education, often working independently far from the main clinic. It suits a capable, self-reliant nurse who is comfortable travelling to remote settlements, building trust with communities, and providing sound, practical care in settings where support is limited and adaptability is essential to reaching every patient who needs help.

Key responsibilities

• Run scheduled outreach clinics at rural settlements
• Provide basic health screening and appropriate referrals
• Deliver clear health education sessions to community groups
• Maintain accurate patient records across multiple outreach sites
• Coordinate transport logistics for outreach visits by road and boat
• Build trust with community leaders to support clinic attendance
• Adapt care and communication to each community's needs

Requirements

• Valid Malaysian Nursing Board registration
• Comfortable travelling to rural settlements, including by boat
