Audit Associate

Sarawak Trust Accounting Services is an established audit and accounting practice based in Sibu, serving timber, plantation, and trading clients across the central region. We're hiring an Audit Associate to join our team serving timber, plantation, and trading clients across the central region. This is a fieldwork-heavy role with regular travel to client premises, and it is ideal for a fresh graduate who wants to build a genuinely solid grounding in statutory audit. You'll begin under close supervision, take on progressively more responsibility as you demonstrate competence, and receive clear, structured support toward your professional qualification along the way.

Key responsibilities

• Perform audit fieldwork at client premises under the direct supervision of an experienced audit senior
• Prepare audit working papers, supporting schedules, and lead sheets to the firm's documentation standards
• Verify client documentation and balances against accounting records and original source documents
• Carry out vouching, casting, and reconciliation of key account balances during each engagement
• Flag discrepancies, unusual items, and potential misstatements to the audit senior promptly
• Assist in drafting audited financial statements and disclosures for manager and partner review
• Maintain complete, well-indexed audit files that are ready for review at any stage
• Build practical knowledge of the accounting systems used across timber and plantation clients

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; relevant internship experience is an advantage
• Willing to travel regularly to client sites for fieldwork across the central region
• Meticulous, well-organised, and genuinely comfortable working to fixed deadlines
• Basic familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
