Accounts Intern

Koperasi Kredit Rakyat Sibu Berhad is a member-owned credit cooperative serving the Sibu community since 1974. We offer interns a supportive, close-knit environment where you can see the whole cooperative operate rather than just one narrow function. It is a grounded, practical first taste of finance work inside an organisation whose books directly serve local families and small businesses, and we make a genuine effort to teach interns properly rather than treat them as spare hands.

This is a three-month internship for an accounting student to gain hands-on experience with member account reconciliation and basic bookkeeping. You'll work directly alongside our bookkeeper and manager, learning how a real financial institution keeps accurate records and stays compliant with cooperative regulations. The placement is ideal for building practical skills, workplace confidence, and a genuine understanding of how community finance works, well before you graduate and enter the job market properly.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with member account reconciliation under close and patient supervision
• Support basic bookkeeping and accurate data entry into the cooperative system
• Help file, index, and organise both physical and digital financial records
• Learn the cooperative's lending, savings, and daily reconciliation processes
• Assist in preparing simple summaries and schedules for the manager's review
• Observe day-to-day counter operations and back-office administration
• Support the team with careful, accurate checking of routine entries

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance
• Comfortable with spreadsheets and a basic grasp of accounting concepts
• Careful, honest, and genuinely eager to learn from experienced staff
• Reliable and consistent for the duration of the placement
• Available for a minimum three-month placement
